Starting a yoga practice can be intimidating, but usually only because of our expectations.

Before you even set foot in a yoga class, you should release any expectations of what yoga should look like — or how you need to be to practice it.

You don’t need to touch your toes or have the ability to contort your body in a pretzel shape. You also don’t need to be really spiritual or Zen to practice yoga.

Practicing consistently will help you foster calm and flexibility, but you don’t need to be a bendy monk to do yoga. Yoga is for anyone and everyone.

Most of all, it’s a process. It’s about uniting mind, body, and breath. You only have to come to this practice exactly how you are. The rest will come naturally.
