There’s a good chance that your yoga mat has seen its fair share of sweat, so it’s best to clean it periodically — or even after every practice.

While there are plenty of yoga mat sprays on the market, there’s also an easy DIY mat spray you can make to clean your mat after each practice. (This recipe is from the fantastic Yoga with Adriene, and I definitely have to give credit where credit is due.)

Here’s how.

Recipe

  • Spray bottle: This serves as a vessel for your mat spray.
  • Water: It’s best to use distilled or purified water if you live in an area with hard water.
  • Witch hazel: A common skincare product with antibacterial properties. (You can also use white vinegar, but it may not be suitable for all mats.)
  • Tea Tree essential oil: Smells great and also has some antibacterial properties.
  • Other essential oils: Use whatever you prefer to add scent — lavender and eucalyptus are great matches for tea tree.

Instructions

Fill a spray bottle with about three parts water and one part witch hazel. In other words, fill it…
