The New Year is nearly upon us. With that in mind, I’ve collected some simple, life-enhancing principles that are easy to incorporate into your day-to-day life.

I call them the five “M’s.”

  • Mornings. Make them sacred. You don’t need a full-fledged routine, but set aside time for yourself in the quiet hours of the morning.
  • Meditation. This doesn’t have to look any particular way. Your meditation could be writing, gardening, or doing the dishes. Just find flow.
  • Movement. Try your best to move every day. I recommend yoga, but even 10 minutes of walking will do.
  • Meals. My favorite diet advice comes from Michael Pollan: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
  • Mindfulness. Whatever you’re doing, be all there.
